13 North American Historical places
1. New-Orleans French Quarter
2. Financial District, Lower Manhattan, New York City
3. Presido of Monterey and Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo.
4. L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, Canada
In 1960, the remains of a Norse village were discovered here. It's "Viking" origins were determined from similarities with structures and artifacts found in Greenland and Iceland which are dated from around AD 1000. This is the farthest known western exploration and settlement by a European civilization until the voyages of Columbus.

"Kitty Hawk is historically well known as being the location of the first successfully flown, powered aircraft which was manned by Orville and Wilbur Wright. However, this information is incorrect! According to the staff at the Wright Brothers Memorial, the flight took place in nearby Kill Devil Hills. After the successful flight, the Wright brothers walked to the telegraph office to let their father know of the successful flight, and the telegraph office was located in ... you guessed it, Kitty Hawk! ..." http://www.outerbeaches.com/OuterBan...ges/KittyHawk/
