    9. Waterloo (1970)
(The film includes some 15,000 Soviet foot soldiers and 2,000 cavalrymen as extras. The film was made in Rome ; I'm wondering where they were billeted?)

Reused footage from the Russian making of WAR AND PEACE.

Replace Alexander Nevsky with Waterloo and you would be right. Alexander Nevsky's force was not a Russian Army

When I watched "Goryachiy Sneg" (about the battle of Stalingrad) it certainly seemed to be realistic including the Soviet uniforms.

I understand the distinction ; had I realised that was a requirement (Russians only) I would have chosen differently.

I think Russian history includes that of the Soviet Union too.

            • Now that looks like a film to see if they ever come out with an English dubbed or subtitled version.

              The special effects look awesome.
It's like Twilight. But worse. Way worse.

                Now I'm confused
What is there Russian Army (as opposed to Soviet Army) about the movie Waterloo?

                            That's a bummer then.

Don't know much about the Twilight movie but assume it's crap.

In terms of historical veracity and overall quality of the script, it comes as a close second to "Enema at the Gates". A Red Army soldier who appeared to be a self-styled priest baptising a girl while clutching an anti-ship mine and sinking after the improvised baptism, Soviet soldier stabbing a German tank with his bayonet, German pilot sh*ing from his Stuka on a Soviet boat, horribly burnt tanker in Stalingrad asking a nurse to show him her tits moments before his death. I hope this is enough. Unless you like "it's so bad it's good" films, you shouldn't waste your time and money on it.
