Yeah, this campaign was nothing but a big barbarian raid

Only if you're willing to throw in Norman French/Quebecoise, Black Irish (the Black came from Spain) English, Scots, Prussian, Slovak, Zaparozhye Cossack, Kuban Cossack, Ukrainian, and Great Russian -- including all of their various constituents, as well. Then you've got yourself a real mutt.
Oh well, okay, you won But in Russia with its 1000s of ethnicities a similar mixture wouldn't be a rare occurence. By the way, Zaporozhye Cossacks, Kuban Cossacks, Ukrainians, and Russians (along with Belorussians) are considered to be subgroups of the Greater Russian ethnicity by some scholars.

Figures that a «Росский Великий» would claim his neighbors as mere "subgroups" of his own genus.

                I would say "Великоросс"

In fact this was the official policy of the Russian Empire, although it didn't include all the neighbours, but just those I've mentioned. The Poles, for example, were considered a separate ethnicity.

You guys are still trying to take over the world, aren't you.

Why not just admit the obvious already and call yourselves Americans? You know you want to.

No problem here, man. There are 83 subjects of the Federation (provinces) in Russia. All of them would be more than willing to join the US. But there's no taxation without representation, and all you need is to add these additional 83 Russian guys to the Senate. Sounds like a cool deal, eh?

                          8. Tikhvin monastery

Captured by the Germans on November 8, 1941, it was turned into a prison. Exactly one month later, during the Tikhvin offensive, a group of Soviet commandos penetrated into the monastery and captured its entire garrison with supplies stockpiled there. This daring raid shocked the Germans so much they started recalling troops from the frontline around the city for they thought a major Soviet force had broken through. This facilitated the liberation of the city, which was announced a few hours later, at 5am on November 9.

Now this monastery is working again and it is home to the Miracle-working Icon of Our Lady of Tikhvin.

It was stolen by the Germans during the war and ended up in a Russian Orthodox church in Chicago. The priest who took care of the icon said in his last will to return the icon back to Russia, but only under the condition of the restoration of the monastery. In 1995 monastic life was revived within its walls, and in 2004 the icon finally returned back home.

Hard to say, but quite a few of them would give Palin a run for her money.

Ah my bad - it'll be 166 Russian senators and 266 altogether! All of them would like to have government-paid cars and planes, of course.

This is how her interior looked in the 1880's.

This is how she looked when Stalin ordered her demolition in 1931.

And this is how she looks today, consecrated in 2000, rebuilt on the same spot.
