  • Introducing Jeff Smith!

Gents, please allow me to introduce Jeff Smith. He's going to be helping us out by taking on the moderator job for the Warfare Through the Ages forum.

Jeff has the perfect background for this post, and I'm sure we'll see some some exciting changes here once he settles in.

    Congrats, and welcome aboard, Jeff!

Is it definitely Janos? I thought it must have been, but didn't want to make an arse of myself. And his name isn't appearing in the thingummy-bob yet.

        Anyway, congrats Jeff.

              Thanks folks,

I appreciate all the kind words. Sorry to be late for my own party, but I was in Babylon, parts of which have been restored to the way it looked in 600BC. What a kick! I sat in Nebuchadnezzer's throne room -- the room where Alexander the Great died (according to the archaelogist chap who showed us around). I'll try to get some photos up soon for those of you who like the ancient part of "Through the Ages".

By way of introduction, I'm in the Army serving in Iraq. I've been in the SCA recreating the middle ages since 1976 as a heavy weapons fighter (armed and armored like a knight). I am also a former legate of auxiliaries from the Nova Roman Sodalitas Militarium, which discusses Roman combat; I am a soci there now. When I'm not in Iraq, I visit castles and historic sites near my home in Bavaria, where I live on the old Roman limes near where it ends against the Danube.

I will do my best to keep this forum interesting, but a big part of it, of course are your ideas and your participation.

              See you in the past!
