  • What is your favourite theory/element of the Holy Grail?

Some think the HG was a bejeweled chalice able to heal or enlighten; others a wooden vessel used at the last supper, and brought to Britain by Joseph of Arimathea. The Knights Templar feature in many stories, including the HG as an object that fell to Earth from the Heavens, or the descendants of JC himself. On a more practical note, you may prefer the fictional literature or even one of the many films.

Besides for the adventure part, I believe that the Raiders of the Lost Ark theory is the best.

In the film, I did like the part that the Cup of Christ would be made of wood. Not as good as the MP version for laughs.

Personally, I am intrigued by the idea that the HG could be an idea, rather than an actual object.

How about the depiction in Excalibur?

That has nods to several of the current theories. Several other conspiracy theories allude to the Knights Templar, depending on the author.

            I lean towards the ideas, concepts, ~ Theory advanced by the late Laurence Gardner. From his website, this excerpt;
            ....
Laurence Gardner was a prominent author and speaker in the alternative history genre of research and writing, whose published works presented often controversial revisionist theories, challenging orthodox views of world history.

Based in England, Laurence's writing career began in 1996 with Bloodline of the Holy Grail, which achieved international success with top-10 listing in The Sunday Times bestsellers chart. This was followed by Genesis of the Grail Kings (1999), Realm of the Ring Lords (2001), Lost Secrets of the Sacred Ark (2003), The Magdalene Legacy (2005), The Shadow of Solomon (2006) and The Grail Enigma (2008).

Following a long illness, Laurence died on Thursday 12th August 2010 leaving two completed new books - The Origin of God and Revelation of the Devil. During this period of deteriorating health, Laurence relinquished all work other than the completion of these two books. As he was unable to give talks about their subject matter, his good friend and colleague Edmund Marriage Principal of the Patrick Foundation, has agreed to be Laurence's spokesperson, representing him in interviews. Edmund, was a frequent visitor to Laurence's home where they would discuss Laurence's latest books and the work of Christian and Barbara Joy O'Brien, whose pre-eminent research in their books The Shining Ones and The Genius of the Few helped facilitate Laurence's work.

From 1998 until 2010, Laurence Gardner was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, a charitable body which promotes the study of the antiquities and history of Scotland, through archaeological research.

His thesis is basically that what has translated in 'English' as "Holy Grail", is in it's original form the term "Sangreal" which more accurately translates as "Holy Blood" ~ or 'Holy Bloodline' ~= "Genetics"

IIRC, he also advances this may be a matrical or "X"(Mitochondrial ???) chromosome. Passed down from Mother to Daughter, hence it is the "Princess" line that provides the Genetic Tag of Royal (Blue)Blood(Genetics) for Ruler Rights ... "Kingship".

As to how this Royal Bloodline~Genetics~Sangrael came to be .... ????
Play your own belief system; ...
It might be the work of the Mythical God/Gawds, ...
Or the work of Extra-Terrestrial Aliens, Intervention upon would-be Human evolution ... ????
Or it might be a quirk of Natural Evolution .... ????

            OR ... ???

From royal and suppressed archives comes proof of the descending heritage of Jesus in the West. In Bloodline of the Holy Grail Laurence Gardner casts penetrating new light upon the Grail Code of Service and the venerated feminine element, abandoned by the Church in order to forge a male dominated society. This unique work offers revelatory insight concerning the descendant heirs of Jesus and his brother James while, in documenting a hidden legacy of the Messiah, it unveils hitherto guarded facts about characters such as Mary Magdalene and Joseph of Arimathea. Featuring all the charm and adventure of Arthurian romance, this worldwide bestseller has a cutting edge of political intrigue, which removes the contrived blanket of established dogma to reveal one of the greatest historical conspiracies ever told.
