  • Sex workers during the Vietnam war

I have a few questions about sex workers involved in the Vietnam War.

I heard in some cases either in the northern area of Vietnam or perhaps bordering the northern area there were brothels where US soldiers and North Vietnamese/Vietcong would attend the same brothels at the same time. Was there any sort of communication among the soldiers of each side when they were in the brothel?

Sex work is the oldest profession in the book as they say. and while it has been forced upon men and women it has also been a voluntary service. It’s been around for much of human history. Warfare would also throughout history involve sex workers. I’m wondering did the North Vietnamese ever use Vietnamese sex workers as spies?

How many American troops fell in love with Vietnamese sex workers and married them ? One could imagine there would have been Americans who did fall in love with some of the sex workers and were able to get these Vietnamese women to really be impressed by American culture and want to move to America.

30 Amazing Black and White Photographs of Vietnamese Bar Girls During the War

"A prostitute earned as much as $180 per month. The average government civil servant earned roughly $30 a month, and even cabinet ministers and Assembly members had fixed salaries of $120. A special form of prostitution was the "mistress," i.e., a paid steady girlfriend. GIs considered this a "safer" alternative to the brothels and bar girls.

This sort of thing occurred throughout history.

I did not charge the girls and killed anyone that remotely smelled like they lived in a tunnel.

It was the same way in japan, Germany and Korea, as well as around military bases in America. Fayetville, just outside of Ft Bragg, was notorious, as was Columbus, Georgia(Ft Benning) and it's sister town across the river, Phoenix City, Alabama. It got so bad that the military placed Phoenix City Off Limits for years.

Talking about freedom here. The word prostitute is a slur it tries to suggest that sex workers are low lifes, dirty people. In fact sex workers are all around us and come from all walks of life. Sex workers on average get less stds compared to non sex workers. Like with the anti alcohol, anti drug, anti Gambling craze...the anti sex worker craze is based on propaganda. A proper society allows freedom of choice.

You present a losing argument. No need for one to look past the real world which includes the fact that sex workers or as you and others call them prostitutes..come from all walks of life and rely on their work to support themselves and their families.
