No sense pi$$ing on his grave. He's shown valor enough. Let the dead lie in peace.

Agree. He did much more than the average soldier.

I read this. Sounds more like misplaced memories or mistakes than stolen valor.

I agree. Leave the man alone. I average rereading my copy of We Were Soldiers Once... at least once a year. If I find it on television, I usually end up watching it again for the umpteenth time. I'm a Sam Elliott fan.

Couldn't read it unless I provided my email, probably because I'm not in the US.

            What did it say?

            Cheers,
            Dan.

I do understand what the military is doing but the guy is dead and they really aren't accomplishing anything with this investigation.

Pointed Plumley out years ago on another forum, few believed it and some even made excuses. The 320th just didn't cut it for me, had he been 505th it would have been another story.
                My worst jump story:
My 13th jump was on the 13th day of the month, aircraft number 013.
As recorded on my DA Form 1307 Individual Jump Log.
                No lie.

Probably more to do with changing out his headstone.

They had plenty of time to investigate when he was alive. I reckon the dead should be left alone, truly being allowed to Rest in Peace.

True enough, but still it's wrong for the headstone to display decorations not earned. To leave it demeans the real heroes.

                          "Sergeant Majors never make mistakes."

If you think your SMAJ has made one, see above.

                          Old Army adage.

Meanwhile, try wearing a decoration you are not entitled to in front of a sergeant major and see how quickly you are brought to task for it.

I tend to believe what DD214s tell you, I wonder if anyone bothered to read his.
