  • Le terrible 57th

I was wondering if anybody knows of some good resources for information on this famous regiment of Napoleons. Particularly to the uniform details if any variations were present as in trumpeters and drummers with facings and piping.

Well this would be helpful as I have had real trouble with this
myself, there is not much uniform info on this unit and I have the
Sash & Sabre metal figures of the 57th and I am working on the
    88th & 28th Ligne using Perry's & Victrix 28mm at this time until
more info comes about. We will have to keep our fingers crossed.

Most of the credit should go to Zouave, as it was he who posted the site links.

See page 6. Posts #87 and #88, on the stickie Militaria Thread.

I knew I had a picture of the 57th regiment "Le Terrible" at Borodino 1812
and they charged the Russian guns with fixed bayonets and never fired
              a shot.

I always found it interesting that more paintings havnt been made of this regiment. They always performed well at battles they participated in.

You have a Wikipedia site in french about the regiment

I used to reenact this regiment (not on my own) in the 1970s.

                      The quote from Napoleon is:

"They are the terrible 57eme that nothing can stop".

1812. Metal plates are found in Russia on places of battles.
