  • Napoleon's Immortals: The Imperial Guard and It's Battles, 1805-1815...

Has anybody read this book by Andrew Uffindell, if so, is it any good?

The long toll of the brave
    Is not lost in darkness
    Over the fruitful earth
    And athwart the seas
Hath passed the light of noble deeds
    Unquenchable forever.

    Imperial Guard

I have it and have read it. It isn't very good and it certainly is not of the caliber of Lachouque's much better volume.

I have Lachouque, Fallou, and St. Hilaire and got much more out of them than this one.

    Sincerely,
    M
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

Cheers M, I've had a copy of 'Anatomy of Glory' for nigh on thirty years... time to dust it off methinks.
Marching with Sergeant Bourgogne in the retreat from Moscow has re-kindled my interest in the Guard.
