  • Help needed, 10eme Hussards

    Hello,

I've been visiting the forum for quite some time now and thought I should join in.
I'm a miniature figure painter and reference material is of great importance to me and usually I can find the information I need within this forum but not in this instance.
A friend has asked me to paint some 10th eme Hussards, and I need reference.
I have a some pictures and have a basic understanding of the uniform colour etc. There are a few specifics I need to know for instance, what colour was the buglers' uniform, what type of horses did they mount?
I believe they are of the 1809 period.
I'm sure someone on the forum has access to the material I need so please help.

        According to my 1810 record

        Pelisse: Red

        Fur: Black

        Dolman:Red

        Lace: White/light blue

Collar: Light blue, edged white lace

Cuffs: Light blue, edged white lace

        Buttons: White metal

Breeches: Light blue, with white lace

Sabretache: Black leather with White metal shield with # '10' stamped out of the middle

        Plume: Red

Ball pompom: Red over blue ?

        Shako plate: White metal eagle

        Chinscales: White metal

        cords; White

        Sash: Crimson with white barrels

I as yet can't find a picture but I will have a rummage around and see what I can find.

        Horses would be greys.

‘Tis said his form is tiny, yet
All human ills he can subdue,
Or with a bauble or medal
        Can win mans heart for you;
And many a blessing know to stew
        To make a megloamaniac bright;
Give honour to the dainty Corse,
The Pixie is a little shite.

            Many thanks chaps,

I think I'll be able to work from what you've posted.

I knew there was a knotel or two about somewhere.

Which scale General I'm thinking of moving up to 54mm.

Where did you find that description Mr Dibble?

Is it ok to post pics of minis, when finished, in this section of the forum

If I have any more queries I'll let you know and thanks for the welcome.

The sabretache on the right is after Weiland, who states a brass shield But I agree with Rousselot, which tallies with my information but also the buttons and shako plate colour, but in another area 'The sash' my information does not agree with Rousselot. If I were you I would opt for the scheme you think is right and go for it.

I have a table for French Hussar trumpeters of these dates

                    1st: 1806... 2nd:1810... 3rd: 1806... 4th: 1810... 5th: 1808... 6th: 1811...
                    7th: ????... 8th: 1812... 9th: 1809... 10th:1810... 11th: 1810... 12th: 1813... 13th (Bacciochi): 1813 (13th Jerome Napoleon 1814)

I cannot remember where or when (it must have been about 25 years ago) I compiled this table, but I do Know that the information was gathered after much reading and over many months.

                    There is this table

                    http://www.histomin.com/housekeeping...sarsfr.htm#TPT

If you need any more Uniform Information, do not hesitate to post what you are looking for on the stickie Best Uniform site, and you can post your figure pictures their as well.
