    Most interresting picture. In the sense of "what on earth is that!"


    At first sight it looks a naive, made-up uniform but some of the details are quite clear and realistic, like the sword, boots and horse trappings, but then again the trappings are really strange. As is the helmet

    If I would have to make a guess, I would say it's a Russian from the time of the Russo- Turkish war of 1829. Some elements look russian from that period; green coat, solid epaulettes, the stripes on the trousers and of course the double headed eagle.

                          • This gentleman apparently is a Field Marshal, so this print must date from sometime after the Napoleonic wars since Wellington was the First Field Marshal. I could swear it's a generals uniform
