    • Can anyone identify the attached uniform, the nearest I can get is French Elite Chasseurs possibly, but I am not convinced that it's 1st Empire.

      Any help would be appreciated.

I am not totally convinced, but this page has similar uniforms and more details:

The Sapper symbol on the standing man's uniform gave it away for me.

              Bonjour,
They are definitly not chasseurs but italian dragoons from the kingdom,of Italia; dragone napoleone, sappers with the 1812 new uniform: the clues: dragoons swords and the N with a white crown on the horse blanket. THe painter could be Giuseppe Rava.

              Regards

              Gboue

              • Dragoni Napoleone

This illustration is by Massimo Fiorentino and depicts the Dragoon Regiment 'Dragoni Napoleone', specifically, a soldier of the Elite Co. (mounted) and a Sapeur Deuxieme Port-Aigle.

                Best regards

                • No it isn't Rava or he would have told us by now as he is a
                  frequent visitor here himself...
But I do agree that they do look like Dragoons and could very well be from Italy.

That sounds like a definitive answer to me. Thanks.

Thanks to Gboue & Gerry McGinty for their help in identifying this uniform, which I accept is Dragoon Regiment 'Dragoni Napoleone', Elite Co. (mounted) and Sapeur Deuxieme Port-Aigle.
