      According to Peter A Hofschroer in the Napoleonic Association Booklet "Prussian Landwehr & Landsturm 1813-15" published in 1980, page 19 - on 22nd December 1813, the 8th Kav.Regiment was joined by the 'freiwillige Jaeger-det,' raised in Eichsfeld by Ritt-meister Graf Ferdinand von Stolberg-Wernigerode. Page 83 shows its strength as 70 men.

      In 1814 the 8th Silesian landwehr cavalry Regiment were part of Kleist's Corps. From the information available to me it is not clear whether the Freiwillge Jager were still in existence and with what strength.

      George Nafziger shows the Army of Silesia organisation on 1 January 1814 at www.cgsc.edu/CARL/nafziger/814ABA.pdf with the 8th shown with just 4 squadrons. However the OOBs show the allied armies for 1814 at www.cgsc.edu/CARL/nafziger/814XAA.pdf which has the 8th with 5 squadrons.

      Battle of Vauchamps 14 February 1814, www.cgsc.edu/CARL/nafziger/814BAC.pdf has them with 5 squadrons.

      Battle of Laon 9-10 March 1814 www.cgsc.edu/CARL/nafziger/814CFJ.pdf shows the regiment down to 2 squadrons.

                  We are not now that strength which in old days
                  Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
                  Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
                  To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

                                ‘Tis said his form is tiny, yet
                                All human ills he can subdue,
                                Or with a bauble or medal
                                Can win mans heart for you;
                                And many a blessing know to stew
                                To make a megloamaniac bright;
                                Give honour to the dainty Corse,
                                The Pixie is a little shite.
