    The Confederate Generals was a commission for a friend who wanted to give to a close friend of hers whom I did not know. A few years later to my surprise I would see this piece again in the office of someone new at work. This gentleman turned out to be the recipiant of this commission and had placed it on his desk for eveyone to see.

      • I found the gallery on the "reenactor" forum. The author of this gallery collected the pictures about the uniform of British cavalry of different times, painted by Richard Simkin. If click the picture to enlarge and, then, click "view image" it will be opened in a great resolution.
        One remark - in 1815, the Inniskillings hadn't worn such a type of helmets.

          ‘Tis said his form is tiny, yet
          All human ills he can subdue,
          Or with a bauble or medal
          Can win mans heart for you;
          And many a blessing know to stew
          To make a megloamaniac bright;
          Give honour to the dainty Corse,
          The Pixie is a little shite.

                      Thank you, Paul!
                      I myself did not at once understand in those gallery - how to enlarge the image to a good resolution (first, click on the image and open it a new window, then right click the opened file -"view image"), and I had doubts that everyone would sort out this . I did not dare to upload the enlarged pictures without permission of the author of the gallery. You have posted at once the enlarged pictures! Thank you!
                      If You'll meet any new picture of the 3rd DG (You have already posted some pictures - the uniform of the 3rd DG on this forum), please, post it!
                      Btw, have You seen scenic paintings depicting the 3rd DG in the Peninsula war?
                      I found a beautiful Hillingford's picture "6th Dragoon Guards in Spain",

                      but I haven't met any painting with the 3rd DG in the Peninsula war, except the deviant art. Sorry if there are none...
                      Sincerely,
                      Paul

                        I just need a some time to be able to do the editing of the scans before posting, then I'll oblige. I may be able to post them in a few days.
