  • Military Medicine Books - History

This year I have been lucky enough to read a couple of books about the history of military medicine, mostly in the form of memoirs and such. This thread is dedicated to books written along those lines. Should anyone feel the need for a technical book thread, let me know and I will get that one up and running as well.

    Enjoy
    Heather

    First up:

A Doctor's War by Rowley Richards

This was an excellent read. Dr. Richards was a young medical officer with Australian forces during the Fall of Singapore in 1941. He remained a POW though the end of the war, moving along the Burma Railway and ending up in Japan.

I remember an M.O. and two of his descisions, 'Give him a No9: back to duty," in the case of wounds, " You have wrapped him up? yes, good give him a cigarette!!"
    'By Horse by Tram'.

I was in when they needed 'em,not feeded 'em.
    " Youuu 'Orrible Lot!"

        Textbook Recommendation?

Can someone recommend a thorough, complete textbook on military medicine history?

        Thanks,
