    KDSM

Long overdue and well-deserved it is. For decades, the Korean War truly has been "The Forgotten War". Widely viewed as the first shots of the Cold War, the veterans of the war were condemned to obscurity by the remoteness of Korea and the non-resolution of the issue. I enthusiastically render a salute to all Korean-era veterans.

Thanks for the update & link.

My last visit to the VA, i saw some info about it but there was not much to read so I just made a note of it and went on living.
I wonder how it will be distributed? :quest:

The KDSM period of eligibility is July 28, 1954, to a future date to be determined by the secretary of defense.
Korea, has always been a hardship duty station for soldiers in the Army. But one that carries many memories for me.
I do wonder if participates in "Team Spirit", deployments will be eligible.

That's a good question, Scout. My guess would be negative.

During my 14-year Army tour, my year in Korea was my favorite. Good times, good people, great historical studies, excellent martial arts training, oh my.

According to the Stars and Stripes article, Yes.

Rumour has it that it replaces the Overseas service ribbon.

My understanding is it requires 90 days in country - so Team Spirit (at least not the one in 93) would not qualify unless you were advance party.
Where did you hear about it replacing the Overseas Ribbon (great now I have to change my Class A's again).

Accually,The jury's still out. I heard a Pentagon spokesman blither on about "exceptions to policy" and some other milspeak that flew over my head.

Best thing I can tell you is keep checking AKO.
