The muffled drums sad roll has beat the soldier's last tatoo. No more on life's parade shall meet that brave and fallen few.

            The Irish Jasper Greens
            Savannah, GA

Savannah had about 40% Irish population at the start of the Civil War.

I had their Civil War flag for a while. A National Guard commander unit was going throw away the flag to get it out of his office. I salvaged it and was quite open that I had it. Eventually they demanded its return. I don't believe it was on any property books but I of course returned it. I was only trying to prevent its loss. As of 1998 it was still with the unit Encased in glass and in an area usually in low light. I tried to get them to donate it to the National Park service at Fort Pulaski or at least use the parks resources to ensure the flag was displayed in a manner that prevented exposure to acids in the wood, felt, glass etc. A glass that blocks UV would be a nice touch now. If they still have it.
