        Always an interesting topic. There are good and logical points on both sides. To state that such monuments have a strictly historic and nonpolitical or intimidating role is simply not correct. The same is true of advocating that they have no historic role.

        The issue to me is not whether to have them, but where to have them. It is the where that indicates the purpose of such statues.
