Self Deprecating humour. Did anyone notice that they slipped in a few bars of the Monty Python classic "I'm a Lumberjack" when the lumberjacks came on. I nearly fell off my chair I was laughing so hard.

They made fun of every possible Canadian stereotype there was. However I'm sure that many viewers did not understand it.

At least their song was a high energy celebratory party inducing song rather than the depressing crap that followed.

I agree that the HIP should have been included. At least some of their songs are relevant to sport (50 Mission Cap and Lonely End of the Rink)

What gives? Rock-n-roll is supposed to be about youth, rebelliousness, and sticking it to the man, so what's with the Canadian government subsidizing rock acts? Is Nickelback uncool for gloming government funds, or is Ottawa delusional for subsidizing controlled rebellion?

In general, Nickleback is just generally uncool. Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, they're very popular.

Cool Canadian bands would be: Metric, Arcade Fire, Tokyo Police Club, F*cked Up, Constantines, Feist, The New Pornographers, etc.
