Tough break. I guess he wasn't as hardcore as he thought he was.

Real life is a lot rougher than football.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

again, the humans doing the most irrational/illogical/stupid/etc things
          ...he had $$$,

He was a productive tight end for the Patriots for three seasons, catching 79 passes for 910 yards and seven touchdowns in his second year to help the team reach the Super Bowl. In 2012, he signed a five-year, $40 million contract extension.

$12.5 million signing bonus which was the largest ever given to a tight end.
          12.5 MILLION$ !

He liked hitting and shooting people from ambush, starting as a teenager.

Serious anger issues and impulse control problems. I wonder if he used steroids?

...drugs also?..they said he got a lot of anger problems after his dad died [ not that that makes it ok ]
yes, I know some people with impulse control problems...I would not want to be with them if they are drinking--bad enough when they are sober
...so, he was in jail---getting used to it, something different
then he had the recent trial...I'm guessing he ''liked'' being out of jail and out jail clothes/etc.....with 'normal' people
...so this kept his mind occupied
once the trial was over, he made the decision for suicide--knowing he threw away such a great life--'easy' life...just my opinion
