  • Richest sports contract in North American History

Giancarlo Stanton, an outfielder for the Florida Marlins, has recently signed what is now being called the richest sports contract in North American history. Stanton reportedly signed a 13-year, $325 million extension.

Talk about "playing to get paid".

Now, this Stanton guy did have 37 HR's last year, but Stanton has yet to have a year batting over .300. Miguel Cabrera OTOH, who now has the 2nd largest contract in the MLB, has a lifetime batting average of around .320. Cabrera also won the Triple Crown in 2012, winning the triple crown is a great feat in MLB.

Though Stanton is younger then Cabrera so maybe in these upcoming years Stanton can improve his BA.

More power to him I suppose. The big question is, will anyone come and watch him!? Miami isn't drawing well.
