he is unrivaled as a man manager, only now will his achievements be truly appreciated.....

of course, as Reb boy has mentioned....the only way Arsenal could win anything is to have Ferguson leave.......or maybe not...?

one of a kind, and will never be seen again, certainly in my remaining time on this ball of rock..

Maybe, maybe not -- but he'll be well mentioned in the debate for generations to come.

Here I agree. The sports business is changing. It's becoming more complicated, more demanding, requiring expertise in a number of different fields. For most of the last century in English football the field manager and the general manager have been one in the same, not merely inseparable positions, but the same position. Those days are over. The demands of the modern sports business means that the field manager and the general manager have to be separate positions, manned by different people. In that respect, Alex Ferguson is the last of a disappearing breed, and arguably the best it had ever produced.

The impact he has made on the English game was enormous. Its a shame it will be unlikely to see a manager last as long as he has at one club.

It is ironic that he, a Scottsman, practically created half of the English National Team with his "fledglings like Beckham, Giggs (oops, not English) Scholes, Rooney. If there had been no Alex Fergison, think of how low england would have been for the last ten years. Of course, maybe one could argue that because of Ferguson and his high league standing using English MNT players, his club success with them overshadowed some level of mediocrity that they were or would have been in any other setting.

Alex Furguson! ....Who's he? Is he that bloke who along with another bloke, by the name of Massey, made farming vehicles and tractors?
