  • Restaurant Recommendations

The child bride and I enjoy travel and eating at good restaurants. We try to avoid chain operations where we can though for breakfast they can be a good choice. I thought we might be able to take advantage of each others knowledge by maintaining a running list of places to dine. I'll start the ball rolling with two from our recent road trip.

Beechwood Restaurant, Vicksburg, MS. They have both beef and seafood. The meals we had and the service were both outstanding.

Cock of the Walk, Nashville, TN. Simply superb food! Our waiter came by a little too frequently for my taste but that was a very minor irritant when compared to the food!

Outstanding cole slaw and pickled onions!

Thanks in advance for your input.

    Regards,
    Dennis

Seasons Restaurant, Williamsburg VA (http://www.seasonsofwilliamsburg.com...e/default.aspx). I just ate there on Monday -- food was excellent. Dinner is around $20-25 + drinks and tip. Of course, it's in Williamsburg (not the historic district) so the environs are spectacular.

The Dobbins House in Gettysburg is outstanding! It's a colonial building (the oldest currently standing in Gettysburg, IIRC) that was built for Mr. Dobins' enormous family!

The Prime Rib was exceptionally good!

Win Schuler's in Marshall, MI has great prime rib in an old time atmosphere in a beautiful small town. Try their famous Bar Cheese while you're there.

Bombay Club in DC. On CT iirc about 200 yds from the White House. Reasonably priced with great ambiance. Doorman, white piano being played, superior service and the food is really great. Three adults, appetizers, main course and after dinner drinks came in at under $100. When you consider the Cognac came it at close to $10, really worth the price or even the trip there.

The Chesapeak in Mytrle Beach SC. Good food, good service and if you get there around dusk you can feed the gators swimming around in the FENCED lake behind it.

Monchshof Restaurant, in Bautzen, east of Dresden, Germany. Great place. It's a former monastery and now the staff dresses like monks. Food is very good and inexpensive. It was one of the best 2-3 restaurants we went to in Germany.

A place called "The Village" in Pohnpei in the FSM. The mangrove crab was excellent. The quaint part about the place is how they improvised if they ran low on supplies. They ran out of beef and lettuce one night and so my beef stroganoff and salad came without the beef (turkey instead) and just a bowl of broccoli and tomatoes.

I can't recall the name of the restaurant, but it was about the only one in Taravao, Tahiti and the Poisson Cru was awesome.

Arirang Korean Restaurant, Manama, Bahrain. Best Korean food in the area -- prices are good, too (unusual in Bahrain).

I used to drive through Chambersburg frequently. I'll have to look for that one.
