    Slick miester, I was there in 1969. And yes, mountain oysters are served and some feel that they must be eaten to prove something. Something similar to eating the worm in the bottom to the Tequila bottle.

        You're dating yourself. I wasn't even born yet.

        Some claim that they should be eaten raw, so that their . . . . empowering effect is not lost through cooking.

            Sounds Good To Me
            I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

              You should see us at Burns Night where we eat alarming amounts of Haggis, Mince Neeps and Tatties and then go on to perform native dance.

                If you can eat Haggis, mountain oysters should be no problem! Dare I ask what Mince Neeps and Tatties are?

                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haggis

                  Haggis is traditionally served with "neeps and tatties" (Scots: swede, yellow turnip or rutabaga and potatoes, boiled and mashed separately) and a "dram" (i.e. a glass of Scotch whisky), especially as the main course of a Burns supper.
                  And a recipe:
                  http://www.foodiesite.com/recipes/2001-01:haggis

                  Tatties

                  * 600g mashing potato, peeled and roughly chopped
                  * 60ml milk
                  * 4 tbsp butter
                  * a generous pinch of grated nutmeg
                  * maldon salt

                  Neeps

                  * 600g Swede (turnip), peeled and roughly chopped
                  * 4 tbsp butter
                  * 3cm ginger, peeled and chopped or ground ginger
                  * maldon salt and freshly ground black pepper
                  Doesn't sound too bad...

                    There are pancakes and there are pancakes. those of Central Europe have little in common with the US version. The European style is much like a crepe. The US is much thicker. The European, with sugar, peanut butter (my way) and jelly. US Syrup, blue berry or maple and butter.
