  • Share a favorite soup recipie?

Wife is gone for ten more days, it's winter, and I'm making a big pot of soup this weekend. The only things I definitely want to get rid of are some old potatoes and half a head of cabbage. Any other ingredients I can pick up Friday.

    Any suggestions?

Beets, onions garlic. Can't go wrong with peas or lentils either.

If you have potatoes and cabbage you could aim for a portuguese "Lavrador" (Farmer) soup.
Just add red beans, some rice, nuddles, some meat, salt and garlic.

1 quarter each by weight -onion, carrot, leek, celery. Cook in veg stock. 1 onion, 2 medium carrots, 2 small leeks (after top cut off), 2 sticks of celery. Chop very fine. Blend is best. Saute a few minutes. Bung in stock. Cook, not boil. Blitz again. As is, make sure equal quantities.

Might have to give Luis combo a shot. I'll bet that would be good with sausage for the meat part.

Man Luis that's almost a stew, or as the ads for "Campbell's Chunky soup" went,"Thick enough to eat with a fork"!

That's the "light" version, you should have the "uncut" version witht the pig ear in it.

The all in version as at least 3 different types of sausage.
