  • Restaurants you probably will never visit

Here's an article on the world's most expensive restaurants. Given they start out at about $150 a plate + drinks etc., and go up into the thousands...

A couple of hundred per person might be my limit, once in a lifetime kind of thing...love good food but can't see dropping those kind of bucks - and thousands??? That's insane! Like this bottle of Louis XIII cognac I saw in a fancy wine and liquor shop the other day. Was listed at 21 000 CHF.

Ok the bottle was really fancy but paying that much for something one will recycle rather quickly? No way.

Quite content with an 80-100 buck bottle of good stuff for once in awhile.

I spent an unreasonable amount at Dumplings Legend on what was much less than decent food. When I go to a restaurant, I want better food than I can cook myself. The experience nearly spoilt my wife's 40th, and it is easily the worst Chinese meal I ever had. Considering we each had the most expensive meal possible, we expected more from a 'top' London restaurant in Chinatown. Fortunately the other elements of her 40th made up for it.

Yikes Nick. That sucks. Now I am always careful with online reviews but what I found at Trip Advisor jibes with your experience.

Even Yelp which has issues with trustworthiness is not much better.

Hope the "other elements" of your wife's birthday made up for it.

          "Nosoupforyou!"

MacDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell, Red Lobster, Chili's, Applebee's, Chick-Fil-A, Long John Silver's, Starbuck's, Dunkin' Donuts, etc., etc., etc.
Actually, at this point, I'm not feeling too trustful in ANY restaurant. Given the myriad things that can and do go wrong in the restaurant industry. Things like "does the fry cook have a green card?", "What about that sketchy waiter...it looked like he picked his nose..."
I just don't trust them. The food at home is much better anyway.

I had a ~many course meals ~ $150-200 plus (adjusted for inflation) before. By course #4 I was already full and by course #6 I was about to explode..and there were more, afterwards...

I believe that Doyles is Sydney's most expensive restaurant. Never having been there I couldn't say for sure. https://www.doyles.com.au/
