I never had the good fortune to see The Police, but I did see Sting in '91, The Soul Cages. AWESOME show! Two of my favorite Sting songs:

                          • Heard this version on the radio today. The best version of this song, IMO!

Stéphane Grappelli added a nice touch to it. The blues groove he lays down at about 4:20, dips right into viola territory...and tugs my heart strings big time...I dig it deep! You can hear the violin parts after 5:00 become the 'doo doo doo doo, a doo doo doo doo do'

Supposedly, here's how it all went down....Stéphane Grappelli was recording in a downstairs studio, when Gilmour had suggested that there be a little "country fiddle" at the end of the song. Grappelli duly obliged, although because his contribution is barely audible, the band decided not to credit him for it in the sleeve notes. Although he did received an agreed fee of £300, however.
