  • ALL HANDS - ACG invades Valley Forge - July 8-11, 2010

So, Whaddaya Say... Party At Valley Forge?

    July 8-11, 2010

I have been offered the great privilege of joining Brian King & a great many others affiliated with ACG & Weider History Group at this wonderful & highly exciting convention being held at the Valley Forge Convention Plaza overlooking Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania. I think this might offer such opportunity for a very great gathering of friends & comrades from our community - that be you, mates - over the 4 days of this exceptional event planned for this year.

This years theme is Pike & Shot!

The miniatures are sure to constitute quite a menagerie of intriguing & artful dios and the games themselves should be quite extensive in their settings & official presentations. I must be honest, this will be my very first trek to such an engagement & I am quite excited just for the opportunity, but there is so much more to it than miniatures & games, my friends...

So, I offer up just a bit of some of the folks you might meet, see speak, rub elbows with & converse in addition to as many of our own community as might muster for such a potential gathering...
    • Special Guest of Honor: Captain Dale Dye, USMC (Ret) - Seminars
    • Guest of Honor: Col. David Glantz (Ret.) - Seminars, David is sponsored by & will Meet & Greet at our own Weider History Group Booth!
    • Guest of Honor: “Uncle Duke” – Duke Seifried – Living Gaming Legend
    • Guest of Honor: René Chartrand – Seminars
    • Guest of Honor: Angus Konstam – Seminars
    • Larry Bond - Seminar, Co-author: Red Storm Rising
    • Frank Chadwick - Seminars, Over 60 games to his credit, Frank is sponsored by & will Meet & Greet at the Weider History Group Booth!
    • Paul Davis - Seminar, Paul is sponsored by & will Meet & Greet at the Weider History Group Booth!
    • John Hill - Seminars, creator of Squad Leader!
    • Col. (Ret.) Jerry D. Morelock, PhD - Editor in Chief Armchair General Magazine, Seminars, Our ACG man with the plan will Meet & Greet at our own Weider History Group Booth!
    • Gerald D. Swick - Senior Web Editor for Weider History Group, Seminars, and of course helping man the walls of our booth!
    • Brian King - Director of Internet Operations for all of Weider History Group - I gotta meet this guy & hopefully we may hold off the masses from completely breaching our perimeter.

By following the banner link, one will see that there are several more guests & a great many reasons & things to do at this event, not to mention the immediate historical area. Though maybe I am being a bit optimistic - yeah me, perpetually so - I somehow think that maybe we can make this one heck of a big party if we so desire & put our noggins to the task in the ensuing weeks before it occurs. I suspect, with a little work, that a potential off-site get together might be arranged if we all put our hearts to it...

Ahem... BB62 - USS New Jersey is not far away & offers several amenities for from 6 to 800 - Y'ARR!...

And, by God, I gotta figger out how I'm gonna get Eric out there for such a thing! I can't speak for any of you, but such a guy as he is - Publisher of the largest stable of military history magazines on Earth, yet just another mate in the community - I gotta finally shake the mans hand which has made our little burg on the cyber-highway possible!

So who wants to PARTY at Valley Forge?

I am in! Plenty of details to work out on my end. (Vacation time at a new job!) But I will be there for as much of this as I can!

I'm hoping to meet a number of forum members there. We'll be wearing ACG or Weider History Group shirts. Look for us and introduce yourselves, please. And any of you interested in writing reviews, I'm going to be offering a seminar on the subject.

These dates coincide with Iron Maiden's concert in NJ (July 11) that I was hoping to fly up for. Now I have added incentive. Thanks

I don't know. It looks like an ad for a gay porno flick or something. Will we all have to wear long hair, ratty mustaches, and thigh-high boots?

Na, you can come in drag, as usual.

And you'll squeeze into your uniform.

Do you still have the legs to pull it off?

Somehow I figgered you'd pick up on that, Cody!

                    8 weeks, mates...

The venue is awesome on its own...

But the area itself presents some great possibilities for the 'extra-curricular'!

Aside from the obvious, the floor is also open for ide'ers, possible side tours among friends gathered, supper & other refreshing activities some might conceive. I myself look as much forward to getting together with as many of you'uns all as I am able as partaking of the actual Convention - I believe nothing can beat meeting good friends in person after many years of our relationships here!

                      I would love to go.
But... wife is agitating to visit friends in Denver this year and legal bills are causing me to live a bit frugally.

Actually, I still occasionally travel by bus, but I stop off along the way & see a few things of interest...

None of that go, go, go all the way crap.

                            OK, so, a train?

Or, maybe enough from the west decide to pool for a charter...

Pick up folks along the way, enh...
