I wanted to know if any of you older cats out there ever saw a tv mini-series called Amerika that came out in 83 or 84. I was only 4 but I still remember it took place during and after a Soviet invasion of the US. Does anyone know where I can get a copy.

I remember watching it... it was pretty hokey about how we'd just lay down our arms and let them 'take over' and our biggest protest was marching down the street with the US flag upside down. Could try ebay or any number of specialty online video e-tailers. I don't think you'll find it looking in mainstream chains or stores.
If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

I remember it. I think it was an ABC network miniseries. Definitely produced by one of the three big networks, but I think it was ABC.

I wouldn't know where to get a copy. You could try Best Buy, or Belle & Blade (though I don't think they'd consider it a war flick).

For a fix of something similiar, rent RED DAWN

If I recall the great "actor" Kris Kistofferson was the "star". The casting pretty much sums up the quality of the movie. As previously mentioned "Red Dawn" is a much better movie about a simular communist take over of the US.

FIL taped it and shipped it to us in Germany. Showed more of a Balkanization of the US after the Soviets intimidated the US into capitualting instead of fighting. The US eventually broke into about four or five smaller countries. The Europeans would love that.

I was in the USAF at the time

                        It was a hoot.

US just laid down and let the UN take over, UN was just a puppet of the Soviet Union. Seems like one of the states was called Heartland, Nebrasks/Kansas ect. and this is where the story took place.

I have some memories, like a H.S. basketballer gets to eat pork cause he made the first team. The US congress disolved itself, there would be some pros and fewer cons to this aspect:P

I seem to remember that there was some kind of strife in the Great Lakes - food riot or something.

The whole thing was anti-American propaganda and was laughable even at the time.

I watched the first episode of it and blew it off after that. It just didnt hold my interest.

                            I guess I'm a geezer.

I saw it. I hated it. If I had a copy I'd burn it.

It had to do with the President of Heartland, a nation the Commies created from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, and his woes. We should have shot him...and I mean the actor.
