  • For My Wife

The subject came up during the course of another thread, followed by the suggestion I post a link for potential support. I took awhile to think about it, as it was no easy decision. However, anything which will help my wife cope a bit easier.

As some of you may know my wife Tracie was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She had major surgery on October 22nd, resulting in the removal of half of her pancreas, her spleen, and a part of her stomach. The surgeon was optimistic, but she is now in chemo therapy soon to be followed by radiation. In addition she was recently tested for possible bone cancer, and we are awaiting the results.

As a consequence of her insurance twenty percent of all her bills fall back to us. In context of that, Tracie set up a Go Fund Me page. The response has been limited, but then we haven't had any experience with Go Fund Me and have not benefited from any real exposure. Another member of Armchair General suggested I post a link to the page on this website, and I finally decided to do so.

No one is obligated for anything, but anything will be appreciated. As an offering in return, for posting this link here I promise the membership at large to never again, from this moment forward, to post in any of the political discussions held anywhere on the forum. Life is too fragile anyway.

Thank you all for your time.

      Martok,

Discontinuing to post in the political forums is counterproductive in my opinion. I strongly recommend that you insert a condensed and tastefully highlighted version of your above post into your signature box, complete with the link to the Go Fund Me page. Then you need to produce as many useful and insightful post as you can in every section, including Current Events which like it or not, has the most responses and views.

I believe that I can speak for ACG Staff that the link and signature spammer rules shall not be applied to you in this special circumstance.

      Prayers and best wishes.

Sending all the positive energy your way.

My my wife set up a go fund me for a kid who had a stroke, some people refused to donate due to the fees, so she setup a bank account for those who felt this method was more beneficial. Just an idea if you need it.

It takes 5 percent of donations raised on its platform. There is also a 2.9 percent payment-processing fee collected on each donation, along with 30 cents for every donation.

The 2.9 percent is about right for what fees are collected by the VISA etc. The 30 cents is what is known as the swipe fee charge by the transaction processor which is your own bank.

It wasn’t an issue with us, we were just surprised some people made it an issue. So my wife set up an account just as a second option, only for that reason.

Hang in there, bro. Don't stop posting, just follow Sal's advice.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.
