  • Laurel and Hardy, one of my all time favorite comedy teams

If you ever get a chance to view a montage of their films, especially the stuff from the old Hal Roach Studios, I'd highly recommend it. They defined physical comedy back in their hey-day. Hilarious stuff!

No, that's the one where they want to go to some man's club convention and tell their wives a lie and then get caught in the end. Stan tells his wife the truth and gets treated like a king. Ollie doesn't and gets all of the kitchen crockery broken over his head. "That's another fine mess that you've gotten me into!"

That was fun!! To echo the words of my Great-Aunt. "It sure was great seeing them both young and really alive once again!"

When I was a wee lad - bored to death with, & sick of all the 'modern' comedy, such as Get Smart & I Dream of Genie - about the only stuff I really found that made me larf me fool keister off was the likes of Laurel & Hardy, The Stooges, & Abbot & Costello...

To me... there was just no comparison

Call me crazy... but good memories...

On the Plains of Hesitation lie the blackened bones of countless millions who, at the dawn of victory, sat down to rest-and resting... died. Adlai E. Stevenson

My favorite with those guys was the one where Stan was a WWI Doughboy, but left behind guarding a trench until decades after the war ended, then moved in with Ollie. Great stuff.

We did "Who's on First" with the kids at my school during a summer program on theatre. We wondered how it would go over, but they absolutely loved it. That's why the classics are classics.

I always enjoyed the Abbot and Costello horror spoofs too....A&C meet Frankenstein, Dracula, etc.

I just finished watching a bunch of Laurel and Hardy film clips. They are just as funny now as they were back then!
