  • The Fallout

Well now a little more than a month after that infamous Superbowl halftime show shockwaves are still being felt. All over the radio dial shock jocks and other D.J.'s with questionable formats are being told to clean-up their acts or else. With the firing of Howard Stern and one other morning radio personality it would seem that the FCC is getting serious about cleansing the airwaves of what some would deem questionable material. So is the FCC overreacting or do our airwaves need cleaning?

The MTV culture is cancer eating away young peoples' brains. What those stars and anchors need is a kick in the tail and new, real jobs.

There is enough vulgarity and crudeness in life without their help, thanks.

I'm only 31 and I can see it and I'm offended, it's not like I'm some old timer.

The FCC is overreacting. Let the people vote with their dollars. If they are so indignant over the sight of a breast, let them put their money where their mouth is, and boycott the products advertised. Let them tune to different stations. Let them explain to their children why their particular religious/moral/belief system finds such outrage in the situations that their children might witness on the Tube, or on the radio.

      It's called Live and Learn.

Overreacting. Sure, some of it could use cleaning up, I suppose. But on Survivor the other night, they flashed huge warnings about content all over the screen. They then had another warning right before the 'incident'. It turned out that Richard Hatch, who goes naked constantly and is blurred out, rubbed up against a female contestant while sliding by her on a narrow plank. It was blurred out anyways, and he is gay to top it off, but they had to have major warnings about it. That's just too idiotic.

There not overeacting but people do have a choice of what they watch. I think they should crack down on shows that are supposed to be for the family but they some how manage to slip in somthing crase and offensive. Then if you want to watch something else you have to get that special. Personnally Im a teenager and I was very offended by that halftime show and other things on TV that are thrown into some program that isn't supposed to be like that but its supposed to be for a family to watch.

            Thanks for looking!!

oh god, noooo... are they gonna crack down on the simpsons?? i mean there is a teacher in there who gets ridiculed, oh noooooooo.

SoccerDJ personally i dont care about the halftime show, i dont care if JJ's tit got exposed. Might be because until a few years ago hardcore porn was broadcast on commercial tv channels and a boob at 20:30h isnt that special.

I do think , just like tiberius , that the crackdown is overreacting.
And like Jamian said, let them boycot the guilty, some people might actually want to hear howard stern.

Please can your lame use of lyrics for God-knows what reason. It makes you look like a 13 year old who is having trouble coming-up with an original thought.

Unless, of course, you ARE a 13 year old, or even a 41 year old, without an original thought, then by all means, continue with that 90's chatroom crap.

A little lesson here - people are always going to do things other people don't like,...it's called living together. In actuality, I could care less what anyone writes here or anywhere else, as long as it doesn't infringe on my right to call it crap and ignore the person. However, if it was someone who was in my face doing something I didn't agree with or like, then something wicked this way comes!

BTW, it's NOT overreacting. Just like any one of us, the FCC and the radio and TV stations have a 1st Amendment right to say, or NOT say, what they want. If you don't like what they are doing, shut-off the television or radio, go outside and learn of God's splendor. Take a walk, play some catch with your Dad/Son/Daughter/Mom, go to a library and read a book, just do ANYTHING other than giving a crap about what media moguls with multiple millions are whining about. If this whole topic is that important to ANYONE, you really need to reevaluate your priorities in life.

Actually now that I've read the rest of this I have one more thing to say:

After I calmed down a bit I decided to come back and refute the logic of your argument.....but I couldn't find an argument.......Are you trying to say something here? The only thing I could find about your stand on the issue is the statement about not overraeacting, but the rest of your statements seem to just refute that one! So which is it? Over-react, or walk in the park?
Or both perhaps as you seem to be doing.

Seeing as how you had to post THREE SEPARATE TIMES to try and get YOUR ideas across, I'm afraid my point would be lost on you.

Read it yet again, and you MAY realize what I was saying.

This is a free country, which means people will say and do things others don't like. It isn't something we can control, unless we want something OTHER than democracy.

I used your lyrical bent as an example. I don't like it, and I said so, but I would never and COULD never prevent you from doing it. That would be something YOU would have to do, for your own reasons,...whether it be because you hit puberty and realized how absolutely childish and feminine it looks, or you decided that you were tired of not being taken seriously. OR, you may decide that putting lyrics in your posts defines you as a person on this forum,...so be it. YOU are in control. In control of your TV, your radio, your reading habits, what you write, what you say, how you live. NO ONE can control these things for you unless you let them.

                        Do you get it now?

                          Hello,

This is not an overreaction, I completely support FCC's warning. We do need moral standards here. We just can't allow millions of kids to find out how cool a woman's breast exposed on the nationwide TVs.

What if that woman exposed her tits with a thin cover, but enough to see pubic hair, to the world world full of kids? Are you going to tell me that it's okay and not overreacting? Baloney.

Please stop acting as if it did not harm anybody. It harms our society, it paints our society as nothing, but lustful people greedy for more sexual content in the eyes of world. We are not like that.

I'll bet you next time, some idiot will run over the stage naked, and the world goes, "Ooh.." When that happens, I will last know America has surely lost her way!

For once, I'd like to get rid of all TVs in America and force kids to learn how to read some books (not pornographic stuff, mind you, then I wouldn't expect any less from hardcore liberals, after all, they're just preverted animals), and actually enjoy them.

What happened to reading books? What's going on? Thank God, I didn't watch the half-time in Super Bowl, but unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for my friends who were sadly shocked at such stupid blatant display.
