  • New Headgear for U.S. Troops in Iraq?

All of a sudden everybody is wearing those brooms on their helmets. Has Iraq suddenly become greener than usual or is supposed to make them look taller and more intimidating-like in the case of the plumes worn by the Greek hoplites.

Those troops operate in the slums of Iraqi cities, forest camouflage is hardly appropriate.

Its a standard fritz or MITCH helmet with Night vision gear and some gillie-suit like camo material.

Nice and elegant : looks like a burnt-out hairdo or like a Chubacka whig
Perhaps is it designed to puzzle enemy would-be snipers : does not look like a helmet, does not look like camo material so they cannot at once identify it as a potential target? Any other suggestions welcome...
