    Credo quia absurdum.

Quantum mechanics describes nature as absurd from the point of view of common sense. And yet it fully agrees with experiment. So I hope you can accept nature as She is - absurd! - Richard Feynman

Seems to be a disproportionate number of them from Wales for some reason....

I wonder how police managed to catch thieves before Facebook?

Explain why anyone would steal 166 manhole covers...

Or, as this article correctly asserts...

Sure, we have criminals, just like every other state.
But we have our own special kind of criminals. Namely, dumb ones.
And, because we're never in short supply of dumb criminals, we present to you our latest series of the dumbest Florida criminals of the month.

February was a special kind of dumb for Florida criminals.

And, in case you were wondering why Florida breeds a special kind of stupid criminal, people who can't fill a ballot out properly, among other fails, here's an article that tries to explain that...

Easiest and simplest answer is to sell them to a scrap metal dealer. They're not protected or secured in any way, they're heavy, and they're high quality cast iron.

Scrap steel is pennies a pound. That's why smart metal thieves steal stuff made of aluminum, copper, brass, or other metals that sell for $.40 or more a pound.
166 manhole covers might get you a 12 pack of cheap beer. The same weight of copper will get you a quart of premium whiskey.
Aside from that, manhole covers are kind of obvious as to what they are and where they probably came from...
