"Steve knows it's wrong. The photo is from February 1945. Now Steve will make sure to correct the poster of his mistake."

And well said old Steve... hell, he reminds me of me!

The long toll of the brave
        Is not lost in darkness
        Over the fruitful earth
        And athwart the seas
Hath passed the light of noble deeds
        Unquenchable forever.

          That won't happen on ACG.

Instead, Steve will go into great detail on why he knows that the date given is in error, and will suggest that the original poster is a sub-human lackey of nefarious powers.

Within two further posts someone will point out that the Spitfire is overrated, and in two or three more an American will comment on the fact that the USA had to bail the UK out of two World wars and twelve pages later the mods will lock the thread because of multiple flame wars and a great deal of name-calling.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

Interestingly for me, Number One Son just made a new Photoshopped cover for one of my books. As soon as I saw it, I imagined hordes of Steve's pouncing on it for lack of historical accuracy.

Have a go, Steve's! How many things are wrong with it and what are they?

And it was probably a Seafire anyway.

That part isn't Photoshopped. It's from a genuine, original WWII photo.

                    Just not of Tokyo.

                    What about the planes?

Avengers making bomb runs are a bit odd.
                      Especially in Hiroshima.

Photographs can be reversed. Avengers could make bomb runs if there are no ships to torpedo. Think of it as multi-tasking. They did carry a man who operated the ventral MG and functioned as a Bombardier and Radioman.
