No, that would be the 20th.
Who uses ball-bearings like that, and hooks up IEDs to go off in sequence in an effort to hit 1st-responders?

The Boston is (or was?) the most famous marathon in the US, people come from all over the world to take part... the coverage in other countries must be pretty heavy.

Two explosions in quick succession, a typical signature of past Terrorist bombings world wide. So far, 2 dead, about 100 injured many critically.

The cutting off of cell phone service as a precaution against one being used as a bomb trigger ended up making it nearly impossible for people to contact friends that were participating in the Marathon. It also cut off anyone from reporting finding anything suspicious or calling for help. That would be a topic for future discussion.

There is no doubt that quick action by many participating in the race helped to keep the death toll as low as it was due to the severity of the injuries suffered. Having first aid stations nearby for the race allowed a quick response by emergency personnel as the casualties came pouring in. It could have been much worse given the early pictures posted from some of the news sites. (speculative partisan political BS snipped by ACG Staff as previously indicated it would be for now) Until the followup investigation is complete, their accusations of who is responsible for this terrorist attack remains speculation.

Expect the speculations and 24-7 coverages to continue for days.

Oh, that makes it true. No question.

My friend got two calls from the area already.

The guy who tackled him will either be a hero or big jerk.

                  • NBC is now saying NO 'extra' devices found, only the two and both exploded.

                    Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
                    Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
                    And whether pigs have wings.”

                    • Verizon, Sprint, AT&T Report Heavy Cellular Traffic in Boston, No Shutdowns

                      Paul's friend is correct.

                      Apr 15, 2013 7:43pm

But the Federal Communications Commission and cellular carriers told ABC News that they were not aware of any cellphone service shutdowns in Boston today. ABC News confirmed with Verizon, AT&T and Sprint that not only was there service, but the networks were attempting to strengthen signals and network coverage in Boston to handle the call and data volume.

Whether the ball-bearing bit is speculation or not, I've heard of this bit before, but I can't remember where.

                            Thanks, Admiral.

We got another call a bit ago from Tracie's dad followed kind of quickly by a Facebook PM from Tracie's uncle Rich. He was in surgery for over two hours to remove glass from his face and metal bits from his leg and side, but thankfully the wounds were not overly serious and he is in recovery and able to communicate.

According to Tracie's dad Rich was near the second explosion.

                            • Hopefully Taylor Ahern (an ACG forum member) who lives in Boston is okay.

Paul Mann and myself have tried to make contact with him on Facebook but no word so far...

                              • On this same day, 42 people were killed in Iraq the same way.
When I heard it, I thought it was the usual intimidation prior to the next election.
Now, I'm wondering... and cities around the world went on alert.
                                Connections?
