  • Another WWII vet gone

    My dad died August 10, 2012. He was a WWII vet. He was in the navy and served in the South Pacific on both a tanker and on the carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt. I wanted to post this to salute his service of this country during a time of war.

    I am sorry for your loss. Sounds like your dad served his country during the largest world war in history.

    May he rest in peace.

        ‘Tis said his form is tiny, yet
        All human ills he can subdue,
        Or with a bauble or medal
        Can win mans heart for you;
        And many a blessing know to stew
        To make a megloamaniac bright;

                They are leaving us at the rate of over 1,000 a day. Unfortunately, too many of them are taking their stories with them to their graves.

                Soon, we will only be left with memories of their bravery in ridding the world of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan and the crimes those two Governments committed against humanity.

                            Too true. I remember when I was a kid, WW2 vets were young men and fathers. Now, even Vietnam vets are getting older.
