Well actually it was HMS Spartan that was tasked with sinking the ARA Veinticinco de Mayo, but yes, it would have been sunk sooner or later had it stick around. After the Belgrano was sunk the Argies knew that they were not safe at sea. So they hid in their ports.

I think, and believe after some inquiries, that the Belgrano was the Argies masterpiece, to serve aboard the Belgrano was considered as an honour, and to see her sunk before the battle has really began was a direct blow to their confidence. The british fleet was at a time the queen of all the oceans and even by 1982 it still an very dangerous foe.
Mess with the best , die like the rest.
The loss of their fleet's pride was enough for Argentinians.
