New Site - PLEASE READ

Hello All,
My name is Ashley and I am the one that moved the forum to its new hosting location. This was done for security reasons and try to keep the forum from going down every other day. I understand that the new forum looks very different from the old one but I promise almost everything you had before you still have it might just be in a different place.

Items that are gone due to a limitation of the new hosting/ forum update:
- Awards
- Flags

As I was going thought your posts I was able to fix a lot fo the issues you were listing. Below is kind of a running list of issues an what is fixed and what I am still working on.

Items that I have fixed from your comments:
- Smilie are now working.
- Color/Theme changes
- Signature are now showing up. (Here is how to edit them https://screencast.com/t/OJHzzhiV1)
- Ranking is now showing up.
- Private messaging is now working.

Some issues I am still working on are:
- Missing items from the Calendar
- Like button the posts is giving an error.

One other note I have seen a lot is theme/color related items. I know this is important to all of you but at the moment the most important thing was getting you back a functioning forum with as many features I can get you back from before.

Theme/color is something we can change but it the moment I do not have the time and resources to fix all of the issue and design the site. I did do some theme updates yesterday but it is very time consuming. Please just be patient with the forum as we get it back to as close as I can to what you had before.

If anyone has any issues that they are running in to please let me know in the post below. Please give me as much detail as possible .

  • Help required. I can't rename my pictures anymore.

    Hello everyone.
    I need your help today.
I am unable to rename my little pictures.
As of last night, I began getting the following message in a small box on the screen...

"If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable.
Are you sure you want to change it?
    Yes or no?"

Normally, I just right click, select rename, give it a name, select save, and that's it.

Now, if I select yes, I get a small white box with no picture.

My attempts to fix the problem are, using scan disk, and spy-bot.
The problem began when I tried to rename my voodoo picture.
I wanted to resize it, and it happened.

    Please help me.
    Slug

Did you rename it to something with an extension that is the same as what it was?

    stooges.gif --> stooges-rename.gif

If you rename it to stooges (no extension) you may have problems.

      Thank you for responding.

This is an example of my file keeping and what I have done for years while I am here.
      • find a picture of Rodney on Metacrawler.
      • save to Mike's pictures. Just give it a name like 01010901a
      • If I want to use it avatar size, I do this...copy it, remove copy from the name, and rename the copy, 01010901b.
      • Then, I'll resize it to avatar size and save it.
      • Now, I can't rename the copy.
      • Or if I do, I get a while square, without Rodney.
      • I must have hit a stupid button or something. Now I'm depressed...

        Hope that helps.

It sounds like Brian is right and that you have changed or removed a file extension.

In Windows Explorer, open Tools(off the top toolbar), Folder Options, click the View tab, and check that "Hide extensions for known programs" is unchecked. This should make all your file extensions visible. If your pictures have no file extensions, attach ".jpg or .jpeg" to them. If that doesn't work, try other graphic file extensions like: .png, .gif, .bmp, etc.
If you can't set a good example, be a glaring warning.

Looking at the example in the screenshot, it looks like all the file extensions are already visible. Try renaming your file to include the same suffix as the original and that should work.

Good catch. Oops on me .

The screen shot does point out that you have removed the file extension for the Stooges file you have highlighted.
