I just missed the end of SPQR last time around - definitely not going to this time... even if I do have to organize a stand-in for a certain 3-week period early next year

If it ends up like the Diplomacy game...I'll resign immediately!
I don't know what happened there

Everybody will have an opportunity to play SPQR II. Either as a full-timer or a side-character later on in the game...this time, we will start with 14 full-time players.
What I do need - something that is essential for the succes of the project -is that the full-time players will be actively involved most of the time. Of course this is also something that they can expect from the GM.

How many nights have I not stayed up from dusk till dawn the last time? What a 'rush' it was...and I hope it will be so yet again.

Be advised that the game could take up to 9 months to play...

Perfect. Rome shall leave tea to those heathens from the Far East.

No tea! Learn to enjoy wine flavored with plumbum and served in lead vessels.

    A few suggested event seeds...

    Rise of Christianity
    Resurgence of the Classic Gods
    Edict of Toleration
    (Even more) Civil War
Praetorian Guard (not literally, but soldiers choosing the new Emperor)
    Britannia under attack
    Frankish Invasion
    Visigoths
    Ostrogoths
    Gepids
    Alamanni
    Vandals
    HUNS! (Scourge of God)
    Magnus Maximus
    Increasing levels of Foederati
    Personal allegiances
Landowners' private armies (refusing to pay tax)
    Diocletian's Reforms (inherited careers)
    Doctrinal Strife (Schisms and heresy)
Collapse of the large slave-worked farms
    Baccudae
    Localisation of the Limitanei
Plague? More the 3rd and 6th Centuries, but could have happened...

Since we'll be playing with a Western and Eastern Empire I will need twice as many events as I did in SPQR

Keep in mind that we'll be playing in the last decennium of the 4th century AD.

Any problems facing the Empires (religious, social, economic) in between 350 and 450 are welcome...don't make the tasks too easy for the Emperors.

    Outstanding, and great to see

Will put my oar in tonight/tomorrow, once I clear the strategic updates for Overland

For those watching Game of Thrones on HBO:

This is not necessarily a good thing but Jaime Lannister kind of reminds me of Drusus
