    Results of gameturn 5 !!!!

It’s been a long game turn of immense political intrigue and military strategy. I can assume that many PM’s have been burned.
Parthian agents have been very active in Rome (more than many assume!), especially the mysterious Orontes Zig - who’s whereabouts is still uncertain - has caused much friction. What is known is that he has made contact with many, if not all, of the Roman senators in order to bribe them to release secret information, to thwart the military operations in the east and to cause dissension in the Roman senate.
Especially in the latter, the Parthian spies have been very successful. It all started with the murder of the young senator Titus who’s political career had just barely started. Later on, an attempt on the life of senator Flavian was organized. Luckily he got away from with just a scratch and a scare. However these intrigues have brought forth many accusations, suspicions and discussions in the senate causing an unrepairable rift between the Imperial faction and the Republican party. Charged for having had cooperated with the Parthians, having accepted bribes from them and/or for trying to incite revolt, senators Honorius and Plinius amongst the most prominent, were put on trial by Imperial decree. Although some were pardoned, a few senators were banished, Honorius, after having confessed, was exiled to Illyria. Plinius however was sentenced to death by ¾ of the votes.
Although the war in the East has brought much glory to the Roman arms - thus far at least – it was preceded by much consternation when General Paulus was suddenly arrested. Although the reason for this measure was unclear to all of Rome, after careful interrogation he was soon released with the rest of his staff.
Having met up with the Armenian rebel army under Osroes they headed on together to Armenian capital. However, General Drusus remained vigilant of this strange leader. On the evening of their arrival in Tigranakert, the Roman army was surprise-attacked by the Armenian rebel army and the main Armenian army under Charaspes and King Volosges, culmulating in the victory at Tigranakert on the 15th of may. After this, the entire Armenian-Parthian situation became clear: the highly unpopular Volosges had successfully usurped the throne from his brother Tigranes, but was soon forced to call in the help of the Parthian army in order to keep it resulting in a brief conquest and the brutal repression of the Armenian people. Having found the baggagetrain and the headquarters of the Armenian army up north, General Scipius found out that it wasn’t part of the Parthian strategy that Charaspes and Volosges would attack the Roman army independently at Tigranakert. Instead, it was Charaspes’ and Cyclax’s task to get around the Roman army and cut their communications…
Having left Tigranakert in the capable hands of General Paulus, general Drusus went into pursuit of the southern Parthian army under Cyclax “the Bull”. Having headed southwest, Drusus soon stumbled upon its rearguard moving northwest towards Melitine in Cappadocia. After an evening surprise attack by the entire Parthian cavalry on the 3rd of june, Drusus managed to retreat to much more favorable ground, thereby luring Cyclax and his entire army through a narrow pass the next day. The subsequent battle in the Randaiean hills on the 4th of june ended in a crushing Parthian defeat, destroying the greatest Parthian army and it’s most capable commander in one stroke.
And to conclude, some good news from the construction site Rome: after almost a year now, I am pleased to announce that the rebuilding of the destroyed districts are almost completed. As of yet, only one more district remains, blackened and destroyed by the fire! By the end of the year the rebuilding should be completed !!!

Budget Restrictions and the lack of Research Grants from the Government of Rome have reduced our staff to a mere shadow of its former self

We do what we can - with little or no support. <sigh>

We are presently assembling our paperwork in support of a "Bail Out" demand.

Those of you in the Great Roman Senate will be hearing from "Donkey Donk UnInc." within the week -- I assure you !

Actually, Poor Zeb is plowing away on a Field ( we can't mention the crop being planted ) - he should not be moved as spreading his minor malady might be counter productive to the welfare of Roman Society in General and Donkeys specifically.

Although Zeb is a marvelous specimen of Donkeyness -- he is not immune to airborne viruses and is therefore at risk - just as any other Donkey might be -- Our laboratories are working on a "patch" for this irregularity and the 'anti-virus" staff is working day and night - once per week -- to resolve this minor inconvenience.

So, Kaiser. Finally got that dictionary?

Those are some pretty big words!

So, let me get this straight.
1.) You are a genetics expert who created the perfect donkey (Zeb?)
2.) Now he has Mad Donkey Disease!?!
3.) You recommend that we keep him working! Traveling throughout the Empire on Senator Honorius' Sojourn of Exile! Spreading Mad Donkey Disease to all corners of the Empire. Is this how Rome shall fall?

Spartans are a long way from home -- are you even sure they can FIND the Cannabis Fields so diligently hidden from public view and the Drug Enforcement Agency by our Erstwhile Emperor ? -- And what if the Spartans fine poor Zeb ?? What then ? As noted previously -- poor Zeb may have contracted Equus asinus spongiform encephalopathy also know as Mad Donkey Disease -- he wouldn't be suitable for the Lion Food Processing Plant -- FDA Inspectors (me) would reject him out of hand and promptly return him to his previous employment -- so why bother carting him back and forth to no avail ??
