Yes, difficult, but I think the German aircraft was more versatile .

If the poll was about better plane I would have chosen Cat. It's not.

Love the Cat but in this match up the 111 is the winner.

As I said, what would the Blitz been like without the 111. Cat was little known back then.

            Forgot water-bomber for the PBY.

Which one is still flying today?

Hm, tough choice, NOT. The greatest air-sea search and respectable anti-sub plane of the war versus the bomber that lost the Battle of Britain.

(love that cockpit shot of the 111, that guy flying left seat looks like an extra from Casablanca)

Yes Desi...that internal shot of the He-111 cockpit looks very much like a very "gay" scene, everyone huddled close, within 'latte' range of eachother.

WOW! From the comments I thought that one would be a 'shoein' over the other (no names mentioned).

                  What a surprise!

time in service isn't a question in the poll Mike.

My father was a flight mechanic on USCG PBY's. My decision was easy.
PS- I had other reasons, also.

Obsolescent though it was even by 1940 standards if the the He 111 had not been around in the numbers that it was Germany would have been unable to launch and maintain many campaigns so it had a deep influence on WW2. The Cat may have been an excellent aircraft but it was not as important.
