  • CP - 100 Greatest Spy Movies

Our Winter 09-10 Tourney will be the 100 Greatest Spy Movies. American History magazine will be sponsoring this Campaign and came up with the list. They will feature these movies in their next issue which will hit the stands on December 8th

We have updated the rules and a bit and are clarifying others so there is no confusion this time:

    1. You have 10 days to vote in each Round of the tournament.
    2. You must vote in at least one Match (poll) for every Round of the tournament in order to receive a ribbon for this campaign.
    3. There will be a delay of a few days between Rounds for our tech guys to update the bracket.
    4. It is your responsibility to look back every few days to see if the next round has started, but one of the Staff will make an announcement on this thread every time one starts. So it might be a good idea to Subscribe to this thread.

Okay, I think I covered the rules. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them.

    Last and not least......HAVE FUN!
The Prelims are open for voting. You have 10 days!

Ok, you definitely missed "The Little Drummer Girl". Not Le Carre's best, but certainly better than a lot of the other candidates on the list, including every Bond and Bourne film.

Lest you think me grumpy: Good work and great topic!

EXCELLENT idea for a poll. Brought back to mind some great movies that I haven't thought of for a very long while. My sincere thanks for setting this up.

No worries Don! Hope you have a blast with it.

I now have the name of the magazine that is sponsoring this tournament: American History magazine. They came up with the list and will feature these movies in their next issue. I believe it is due on December 8th.

I helped set up the polls and I must admit that I haven't viewed half of the movies I researched!

This is a tough task. I ended up reading the synopsis of each picture and picking some based on the actors. I tried to stay away from the Bond films except for the latest Casino Royale and anything with Sean Connery.

My movie forte is usually Horror, Action, and whatever the person im with is into so Spy movies don't really come up. I voted for all i have heard good things about or any that i really heard. Besides the Bond Movies theres maybe 3 i actually saw...

Well looks like i got some things i can watch now !

Glad you are still participating in the contest Blake, though it isn't your preferred genre. The more the merrier!

To be truthful, I was a little upset that this was the latest contest. Was really looking forward to the Greatest Blunders tourney. But I'm warming up to this fast.

to all involved in setting this up.

Any idea what the ribbon will look like?

And will this end up as a special magazine issue the way the Western Movie tourney did?

                        ...nice choice..

HEY BISCUIT! Thanks for setting this one up. This genre is one of my favorites since I saw my first OO7 movie "Goldfinger" on Christmas vacation in 1963. (I've since seen them all and have read every thing ever written by Ian Fleming...I even went to his house in Jamaica in hopes of renting it for a week...too much $$$)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next round already. Regards, jose

I can't believe that Hunt For Red October hasn't been in any of the brackets so far.

Thanks to you too for helping set this up. Most of these are great movies and the list helps as a memory aid.
