  • Syrian Civil war March 2016

Offensive against IS: Syrian government forces rapidly advancing towards Palmyra.

With the help of massive and relentless Russian air strikes.

Seems to be a coordinated offensive.

Offensive nach Angaben des Sprechers durch Luftschläge des US-Militärs.
Incidentally - the correct translation would be "....with massive help from Russian airstrikes."

But I'm sure that's an honest mistake, German not being your first language and all that, and not political spin on your part

The article he quoted doesn't mention "US-Militaer" at all.

I guess the times are changing, and with all this "weaponisation of information", posting an article from a politically correct Western source is obviously not enough. As a good correct-thinking citizen, he was obliged to find the right article in this magazine, where the Glorious "US-Militaer" would be prominently featured for playing such a major role in the Syrian offensive on Palmyra.

Your attempt to accuse him (and Speigel!) of bias is so absurd it reminds me of Soviet rebukes to authors who "failed to reflect the leading role of the Communist party in the increase of wheat yields per hectare". You should write an angry letter to the Spiegel editorial staff, telling them to weed out Putin's spies and saboteurs among their journalists who dare to make no mention of the US military in their articles.

It is absurd. Everyone knows Speigel is full of Washington's spies and saboteurs.

Hell I read a article about how inept and how seldom the US farces hit in Syria on the Beeb.

I'll see if I can find it. Here it is.

Different article in the same paper, in his own link, deals with the US supported attack on Mosul apparently happening simultaneously with the Russian supported attack on Palmyra.

Konzev mentioned only the one (guess which ) so I decided to draw his attention to the other.

Surely Russians and Americans coordinating attacks against IS is significant in the context of this thread no ?

If you click on the link in my post you'll note that this is the second paragraph:

Die Operation "Eroberung" sei im Morgengrauen gestartet, sagte ein Armeesprecher. Einige Dörfer im Osten der Stadt seien bereits eingenommen worden. Unterstützt wird die Offensive nach Angaben des Sprechers durch Luftschläge des US-Militärs.
            http://www.spiegel.de/politik/auslan...a-1083952.html

This has nothing to do with Der Spiegel as a source, but with Konzev's posts being styled like old fashioned DDR propaganda.

Maybe because Mosul is not in Syria?

Seriously, though, Shaa, snow is a nice guy. I hope you guys get along a bit better...

Palmyra is close to be liberated by heroic SAA and with help of Russian airforce.
Same airforce which "withdraw" from Syria.

There's a couple of articles I've read about a Russian SF who had to call a strike on his position, don't know if it's accurate. If you've seen it, any comments?

Nice try, but he posted an article from a newspaper the usual Russia bashers have never accused of being "propaganda" unlike RT, and anything else, and you still found fault with him.

Give me a break. I have recently provided a detailed breakdown of "Putin-Stalin" articles which contained clearly false and misleading information which can be only classed as propaganda. I didn't notice your slightest squeal about this, not speaking of thunderous condemnations of The Guardian and The NYT of posting blatant lies. Now that he posted an article from a "plus-plus good Western propaganda paper" containing factual true information but lacking the kind of spin you would like it to have, and voila - you are crying foul.

Now everybody has his own agenda here and everyone's entitled to it, but the stark difference between your indifferent reaction to obvious lies vs the shrill screams about not mentioning how great your designated "good guys" are, is making your accusation much weaker.

This has nothing to do with Der Spiegel as a source, but with Konzev's posts being styled like old fashioned DDR propaganda.

DDR propaganda? The only word he inserted from himself was "relentless". The rest was a Spiegel article.

This post of yours is the most laughably baseless accusation of "making propaganda" I've seen on this forum. I guess you're getting too nervous your preferred "good guys" can't even score a goal in the media field, not speaking of the actual battlefield, that you got so riled up with him posting the "wrong kind of article".
