  • Hypocrisy at its best

"Muwafi says the opening of the crossing — which Egypt sealed after Gaza was taken over by Hamas militants in 2007 — is an effort to "alleviate the suffering of our Palestinian brothers after the Israeli attack" on the flotilla."

Better late then never huh? Like they weren't "suffering" before the incident? What hypocrites . And only certain people. Those that were "cleared"? . They could have been alleviating "the suffering of our Palestinian brothers" for years. Yet they choose to do so as they don't want Hamas type activities and groups causing problems in Egypt .Robert

Egypt opens Gaza border _ for those already cleared

RAFAH, Egypt — Hundreds of Palestinians living in the blockaded Gaza Strip crossed into Egypt on Wednesday thanks to a surprise Egyptian decision to open the border — a crack — after Israel's deadly raid on an aid flotilla that was trying to breach the siege.

President Hosni Mubarak announced the opening Tuesday, but border officials said it applied only to certain categories of Gaza Palestinians, among them pre-cleared patients with medical emergencies and students with visas to study abroad. All others were sent back.

"They have no compassion, no mercy," said Nefissa Abdelkader , 65, a housewife from the Burayj refugee camp in the Gaza Strip who complains of pain in her back and legs. She said the officials had turned down her request to enter Egypt for medical treatment because she didn't have the correct paperwork.

Egypt allowed busloads of aid from Russia and Oman to cross into Gaza , including tents, blankets, mattresses, electricity generators and medical accessories such as crutches, border officials said. Some 540 Gaza residents also crossed back into the enclave."

      Great title JCFIII,

I nearly spilled my glass of bordeaux on my keyboard, reading the words of a permanent member of the "bash the palestinians group" at AGF, stating that the Palestinians trapped in the gaeza ghetto have been suffering.

You have won the "hypocrite of the day" title.

Egypt should just invade Gaza, kill and/or arrest all Hamas members and then declare Gaza a part of Egypt. Israel then wouldn't have to worry about the dangers of Hamas & so they could lift the blockade.
However the sufferinhg of the Palestinians in Gaza is a great way to portray Israel as evil.

Sorry. I don't think that would be very effective or even possible. Robert

Why would Egypt pull a thorn out of Israel skin?

Good sig Golani. I admire the "Chosin Few". On the subject of Egypt it amazes me that they all of a sudden after so many years they have a desire to "alleviate the suffering of our Palestinian brothers". Just an to attempt to make themselves look good and draw attention away from their blocked off side of Gaza. Robert

Exactly and why care for their "Palestinian brothers" when Israel can take the flak for the "suffering"? There is a reason they closed off the border and it sure as hell isn't for any feelings of love or affinity or trust. Robert

Egyptians View Construction of Gaza Wall As Evidence of Government’s “Hypocrisy”

"For many in this North African nation—the Arab world’s most populous—the move to erect a wall in a U.S. and Israeli-backed attempt to end the smuggling of goods into the besieged Palestinian enclave has left a sour taste in the mouth. Egyptians, especially activists, have noted quite openly on Twitter and other online networks that the wall represents the Egyptian government’s “hypocrisy.”

“We have always been told that Palestinians are our brothers and sisters,” said opposition activist Omar Fagr, “but when we go out to support them, the government here [in Egypt] arrests us and imprisons us. How can they say one thing and then go do another?”

Since Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip after ousting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ security services following a bloody, U.S.-backed coup attempt in June 2007, Israel and Egypt have imposed an economic blockade on the 1.5 million Palestinians living in Gaza. The siege has forced Gazans to find other avenues for obtaining essential goods, such as cooking oil, petrol, butter and other foodstuffs. Smuggling tunnels that run beneath the Sinai desert landscape have become one of the few means of getting supplies to Palestinians, but Tel Aviv and Cairo want this to end, insisting that the tunnels are used to smuggle weapons."

"On Tuesday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said he would open the Rafah border crossing with Gaza to allow the arrival of humanitarian aid. Huzzah! Merely the mention of Egypt – which is callously driving a steel wall dozens of meters deep into the ground at the border in order to help its Israeli allies stem the flow of alleged contraband to Gaza – is enough to make obvious the hypocrisy of the crocodile tears flowing so freely these last two days."

More hypocrisy of course. Better late then never huh? Where were they before? Just tough talk again. The Rachel Corrie asked for help days ago. Fine. Escort the ships to the edge of International Waters. Then if they cross that line blow them out of the water. Israel has that right for sure. More bombast and chest thumping. Just another attempt to distract from Iran . Robert

Iran Revolutionary Guards ready to escort Gaza ships
                        1 hr 56 mins ago

TEHRAN (Reuters) – Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards are ready to provide a military escort to cargo ships trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza, a representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.

"Iran's Revolutionary Guards naval forces are fully prepared to escort the peace and freedom convoys to Gaza with all their powers and capabilities," Ali Shirazi, Khamenei's representative inside the Revolutionary Guards, was quoted as saying by the semi-official Mehr news agency.

Any intervention by the Iranian military would be considered highly provocative by Israel which accuses Iran of supplying weapons to Hamas, the Islamist movement which rules Gaza."

Cairo refuses to let aid into Gaza

"Over the weekend, the Arab Physicians Union submitted a request to the Egyptian government to send 400 tons of food and construction material, including cement, into the Gaza Strip.

The request was turned down by the Egyptian authorities, which did not offer any explanation, said Munir Albarsh, a representative of the union. He said that although the Egyptians had reopened the Rafah terminal for travelers, they were continuing to ban humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip."

Someone can explain me why Egypt refused to take back Gaza at Camp David? It was years before HAMAS was created so poor Palis woud be living "free" under Egyptian "secular" rule for thirty years now. Problem is any Palestinain/Arab state in Land of Israel will be as "Free" as other Arab states are so even usefall idiots woud stop support the Anti Jewish Jihad.
"Palestinians" are sufering for propaganda alone...
P.S. I forgot about Israeli Arabs who will end up as another opressed class; Salami tactics do works. Israel has only 19% of Palestinian Mandate but still is pressured to give up more. It's miracle it still exist despite such moronic policies.
                            Kosovo is Serbian.
I support United Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Behead those who say Islam is violent!
