The Saudi Weekend is Friday and Saturday and things get a bit lax then and the attack was on the Saturday.

The same might have been said about the US military at Pearl Harbor on Sunday Dec. 7 1941...
Then again the Saudis may have just been guarding the wrong direction...

Before the 1st Gulf War the Kuwaitis put the antenna etc of an AEW set up inside a kite balloon so that they could look across the frontier into Iraq. It was connected to a ground station by cable. At the weekend the watchers used to switch everything off and go home - Guess when the Iraqis invaded?

The US is convinced that the attack that possibly included cruise missiles came from within Iranian territory and that they’re locked and loaded suggesting a US military strike is coming soon.
Oil prices are about to get much higher as the Saudis oil capacity won’t be back for several months instead of weeks now and an escalation with Iran.

I would ask anyone trying to say the Iranis sent the drones for proof. The Saudi's oil fields are not worth the life of a single American soldier.

Here are the leading countries who import petroleum from Saudi Arabia. It looks like China and India, and a few others need to step up and show those nasty Iranians a thing or two...

China keeps talking about having a voice in the world, here's their chance.

Word seems to be that the drones used weren't just sophisticated, but also many and small. This wasn't akin to an attack using something like a US Predator drone, or cruise missiles. It seems it might have been a skillful infiltration attack using tech deliberately chosen to be hard for the kind of security systems the Saudi's might have had to even spot.

                  Don't hold your breath.

China has already commented to the US that it is impolite to make charges – in this instance against Iran – without proof.

Possibly China envisions being able to buy oil as easily from Iran (those guys really need to sell) as from Saudi, with the added advantage that Iran isn't a US ally.

And frankly, Saudi foreign policy is all about hiding behind the US. Weirdly, while Trump's US has nary a kind word for it's European allies, it seems so far unquestioningly prepared to jump into hot water alongside Saudi. So far the Europeans at least haven't been prone to drag Trump into any war, but Saudi really might.

Most elsewhere in the world everyone is more or less waiting for the Mid East to blow up in Trump's face at this point.

Saudi and Israel are on the same side, funnily enough, in this – and Trump's US backed both to the hilt. While actively punching Iran into a corner – apparently not expecting the Iranians to do anything about it.

The Saudi's are not innocent allies being attacked because they are allied with western European values.

What you have to accept is that for most of it's history Islam has not been the victim of colonization but the colonizer. That is true both internally between sects and externally against cultures as diverse as Spain and India. Perhaps only the Mongols have a higher body count in proportion to historical population levels. Some people will object and point to the Americas but outside of the Spanish destruction of Aztec and Inca empires most Europeans on arriving in the Americas saw continents already depopulate by disease.

Islam is the last large warrior culture. It is perfectly designed for maximum reproduction of soldiers by subjugation of females. It has a martyr dogma that ties in with it's reproductive scheme by sexualizing battlefield sacrifice. Offering not only sexual gratification in the after life but offering women as the spoils of war playing on young males instincts and diverting the protection instinct into defense of the faith. It's decentralized hierarchy sets up the perfect basis for military colonization. Rigid political structures being the bane of generals in every culture as it restricts individual initiative. It's high level of ethnocentric combined with easy conversion invites the colonized to become colonizers. The only problem is that as technology advanced the value of a Spartan style soldier has diminished.

So now we are faced with Islamic sects that are designed for warfare that no longer makes even ethnocentric sense.

                        Poor Saudis.
They paid and pampered Pakistan like any thing.

out of hundreds of Billion Dollars they had gifted to Pakistan.

Now Pakistan is no where to be seen. To stop it's Army being deployed in Saudi Arabia they may increase tension in India - Pakistan International border and line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir .

The Iran deal that Obama negotiated was little more than appeasement. Why would we expect the Modern Islamic fascists to behave any differently in the face of weakness than the fascists from seventy years ago? You can't negotiate with fascists.

The leadership in Tehran needs to provoke conflict or simply slowly loose their grip. What better way to manipulate their population than attack their religious rivals of thirteen centuries. The U.S. and Israel may be the great and lesser Satan but Satan is abstract and distant religious rivals are more tangible and emotionally evocative.

Talk of the Middle East being Trump's problem really is absurd as he is just the 9th president having to deal with a Middle East crisis of one sort or other. It's a lot like the democrats hoping for a recession. If Syria, Libya, and Egypt didn't get blamed on Obama why blame Trump for whatever the Iranians get up to. If our European allies want appeasement and continue to maintain their dependency on Middle Eastern oil that is a short sighted world view. They are once again engaged in the folly of peace at any cost.

The Saudis are not our friends but they are not as dangerous as theocrats. Theocrats are by definition unrestrained by "earthly" logic. They need not act in the temporal interests of their subjects or the logic of human life. For the religious no earthly sacrifice is too great if external life is in the offering. Better to side with the Saudis who at least seem venial enough to want to maintain their earthly advantages.

Keeping Iran down by strangling their economy keeps them from causing a larger war in one of the most vital regions to most of the worlds economies, the useful idiots in our countries who give their groveling support for Iran like they did for the Soviet Union think there would be no consequences if a large war between Iran and the Sunni countries ever happened stopping the flow of over 20% of the worlds oil.
Fortunately in the US they’re not so gullible now like the Obama administration was as to leave them to fight it out between themselves.

What, hasn't that war already started?

You guys are starting to sound like one of those old kings in LOTR; "War is upon you, like it or not."
