  • Thieves Steal Israeli F-16 Engines

The base commander contacted the military police after discovering the engines missing. There were no details how many engines or engine parts were stolen but the radio report said the estimated worth is the millions of dollars.

The thieves seems to have been assisted by someone within the base. Among other things, there is the fact that there was no damage to the base's perimeter fence. This leads investigators to believe that the thieves went in and out through the gates. This would have to be done with a large vehicle, since the engines weigh over 1.5 tons and are more than 15 feet long.

No suspects have been arrested yet but the most likely possibility is that the engines were stolen by Arab metal thieves, weapons dealers or terror-related agents. The theft marks a low point in its ability to secure its own bases.

Sure, "Arab metal thieves" my ass.
It's got to be an inside miltary job. You have to get on the base, into secured buildings, load large engines with a crane or forklift, then get them out a gate.

A bunch of teenagers were able to steal a couple Israeli F-16s with the help of a crusty old reserve Col back in the 80's. Maybe it was them again.

                    Considering, that F-16 serves in
                    Pakistani and Venezuela Air Forces,
Chinese had whatever they need long ago.

Here is an article how Chinese were trying to get the latest version of engines back in 2005.

Moo's package was an F110-GE-129 afterburning turbofan engine, built by General Electric to power America's latest F-16 fighter jet to speeds greater than Mach 2 (1500 mph). Over lunch in the Marriott's restaurant, 58-year-old Moo told the arms dealers who had arranged the purchase that he would soon be looking for additional engines--or even an entire F-16. But what the Chinese army wanted most of all was an AGM-129A, the U.S. Air Force's air-launched strategic nuclear-capable cruise missile. The stealth weapon, which flies at 800 miles per hour, can deliver a 150-kiloton W80 warhead to a target 1800 miles away.

It is. Don't forget there are Arabs inside the military as well and not once they end up cooperating with the enemy (be it an actual enemy, or simple thieves)

Whenever training in the Negev there are certain things that always happen. For instance there are always Bedouin kids on ATV's on standby waiting for the right moment to swoop in and take whatever's not bolted to the ground.

It's quite often that they even haul tank targets (old tanks, trucks, APC's or just their frame) and if they can't haul it they strip it to the bone. Not once are they killed or wounded because they do during a live fire exercise, or by un-exploded ordnance.

I understand the desire the blame Nethanyahu for everything, but I'm pretty sure he is only 60ish.

I mean, while we're at it let's just blame him for killing the dinosaurs...

You do realize these people don't and never had ownership on the land do you? You do realize that this was the case under the Brits and the Ottomans right? You do understand that Israel is the only government that tried solving it by erecting Bedouin cities?

Wait, we should start at the more basic thing, you do realize that you don't become a land owner by simply declaring that you are the owner, right?
