    Always unsung. These men fight for reasons perhaps only they can truly fathom. But they are our allies and as such, deserve better then what they normally get. Hats off to them.

      They don't compete for US military aid, they don't have firebrand clerics as spokesmen, they aren't doing anything the typical media considers sexy. It's a wonder the reporter found them.
      Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.

        Good observation GC. After you wrote this, I tried to find any mention of these guys in regional or international newspapers. None. Zip.

          There were similiar militas set up in Vietnamese villages during the conflict over there. Little was written about them but the ones who were earnest about it did a good job & kept the VC/NVA out.
