  • AQ "rewards" Spain?!

I don't know if this has definitely been confirmed as being genuine or not, but I heard on the tonight that AQ has apparently issued a statement (via E-mail?) in which they state that, as a "reward" to Spain for withdrawing their troops from Iraq, they will mount no further attacks.

I believe that US experts/authorities are examining this to determine if they think it’s the real-deal.

If it’s true – I hope it finally brings home to the Spanish the enormity of what they have done and their “appeasement” of the terrorists.

Even if AQ didn't send such a mail, such a trend of Spain is VERY dangerous for ALL the world.
I wil not speak now about the beginning and course of Iraqy's gamble, but Spain's action will get MUCH power to terroristic activity!!!
Here in Russia we got much experience for such activity of our former government in the period of the first chechen war.
It definetely shoed, that if you give up terrorists once, they would make another terroristic attack more terrible to achieve their aims!!!

So, I agree with Mr. Putin. When he had been asked about the talks with terrorists in Chechnia his answer was: "Russia don't carry out negotiations with terrorists, Russia eliminates them!"

Yeah, but its only a cease-fire "to see if Spain will withdraw" If they do then, yes, AQ will, by their statement, suspend operations in Spain.

As you said, Dr. S, this is nothing but appeasement, and the Spanish will reap its better harvest. Unfortunately, the ROW will also see some fallout.

So what do you expect from a socialist?

Not just a Socialist, but one who is totally inexperienced in public office, who wasn't even expecting to win and who seems generally unprepared for the fact that he is now actually in power.

I've heard of "protest" voting, but considering who the Spanish have put into office, this is ridiculous!

The day before the bombing, his party hadn't a prayer of winning.

seems to me that their should be an agreement between NATO countrys not to negotiate with terrorists unless it is to achive a temporary tactical advantage.
