    Terrorism Medal

Geez, I wish I qualified for one or both of these. Still, it is good that those serving in Op. Enduring Freedom or Op. Iraqi Freedom will be recognized, the more so for the families of those who died.

Ya think Kerry will try to get in on this one? He'll claim that he was in the Kurdish Air Force, or maybe the Afghan Navy.

Of course you're aware that Al Gore invented the Afghan Navy.

Rumour has it that the orders call for it to be awarded to participents in Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan that the medal by accident or design has been put into everyone's records.

Ive never had to muck with my on-line ERB so I cant say for certain.

            Well,this just gets better.
Seems we all (U.S. Army, anyways) now get something called a "global war or terrorism" medal.

I have no clue what the freak this thing looks like but I had better find the ribbon to one before 1 may when I go to the NCO of the month board.

            Why me,God?

Lets see... there has to be a medal for each theater of operations, then there has to be a medal for those who don't get to rotate overseas but are otherwise involved, then there's one for serving in Iraq and Afghanistan specifically... just more ingredients for the fruit salad.
If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

Although there have been some photos of medals in Army Times and other papers, the last I heard (10-14 days ago) the SECDEF has not approved the designs yet and no medals had been awarded.

If anyone has heard something better or newer, please speak up. Info on this kind of thing is sporadic over here.

So far there are just two medals that the SECDEF wants:

GWOT Service Medal: For the folks called up but who stayed in the USofA guarding airports and ensuring domestic safety.
GWOT Expeditionary Medal: For the folks sent overseas to smite our nation's foes (Iraq, Afghanistan, Phillipines, and wherever else we may go or have gone).

SECDEF has said that's it. That's all there will be. Congress, though, is proposing medals for the Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. I'm not sure how far the bills have gone, or even if they have been signed, but their proposal is for medal for each operation (Iraq and Afghanistan only) in addition to the GWOT Exp. Medal.

I could come out of this thing looking like a mexican corporal (I could probably get away with wearing a few of my old Volksmarsch medals or some WW2 surplus stuff )

Im in the same boat,info-wise. What came down to my level was that this award turned up in everyone's ERB If it isnt out yet, that would explain why it's nowhere to be found in Area 1.
